AI & Creation #4: Untranslatables-proof

The AI4archi chair, funded by the MIAI Cluster, is pleased to announce the 4th edition of its "AI and Creation" series. This lecture-performance, titled "À l’épreuve des intraduisibles" (Put to the Test of the Untranslatables), will take place on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the IMAG Auditorium (Saint-Martin-d'Hères campus).

Inspired by Barbara Cassin’s seminal work, Dictionary of Untranslatables: A Philosophical Lexicon, this session explores the fascinating intersection of language, translation, and Large Language Models (LLMs). By blending philosophy, linguistics, visual arts, and digital experimentation, the speakers will challenge the idea of a transparent, English-dominated digital space. Instead, they will highlight translation as a creative process that embraces the unique, irreducible nuances of human languages.

JDC-2026 : Journée Data Challenge

The ACDC unit of GRICAD is organizing the 2026 Data Challenge Day, an event dedicated to exploring "Data challenges as tools for research and training." Sponsored by the MIAI Cluster —and supported by Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA), and France 2030— this key event will take place on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the IMAG Building (Saint-Martin-d'Hères campus).

The day is designed in two complementary parts: an inspiring morning of presentations in the ground-floor auditorium,followed by an interactive, hands-on Data Challenge workshop in Seminar Room 2 during the afternoon (participants must bring their own computer).

Alexandre Stourbe

A graduate of EPF Engineering School, Alexandre Stourbe began his career at Altran, where he quickly took on management and team leadership responsibilities. Driven by an entrepreneurial mindset, he went on to found a recruitment firm specializing in engineering roles, before launching an HR startup focused on referral-based hiring.

His entrepreneurial journey led him to collaborate with Jérémy Lamri, who recruited him as CEO of Le Lab RH. Over eight years, Alexandre developed and led this pioneering organization, which has become France’s leading ecosystem for HR innovation.

He now continues this journey alongside Jérémy Lamri at Tomorrow Theory as Brand Ambassador. In this role, he leverages his experience and vision to support the organization, while continuing a central theme of his career: connecting stakeholders, anticipating transformations, and contributing to building the future of work.

Open call to sustain the development and promotion of AI for 2026

MIAI Cluster is launching a call for projects to sustain the development and promotion of AI, open to the UGA, UCA and USMB communities at large.

This call for project is open to all members of the academic partners
in the MIAI Cluster consortium.

In the context of this call, MIAI Cluster welcomes projects aiming:

to explore new areas,
to foster new collaborations involving either internal or external partners (note that MIAI’s funding can cover mobility between partners’ sites but not participation to conferences),
to support the organization of workshops and seminars,
to support the organization of summer/autumn/winter schools or hackathons (the targeted audience can be Master/PhD students or private or public professionals).

The selection will be based on the quality of the project and the collaborations it relies on or fosters. Proposals should be prepared using the attached template. Applications are open all year round. Assessment of the proposals will be carried out by the relevant MIAI board (scientific, education or innovation board) and by the executive committee.

Detailed provisional schedule:

End of April 2026: Launch of the call for chairs via email through the departments, UGA mailing lists, MIAI mailing lists, and on this page.
By June 1st at 12:00 PM (Paris time): Deadline for final project submission via the dedicated platform (link to be provided).

ISSAI/GAP2026 Grenoble AI for Physical Sciences workshop (GAP)

Description

AISSAI/GAP2026 is the second edition of the Grenoble AI for Physical Sciences (GAP) workshop, following the great success of its inaugural edition in 2024. GAP brings together international experts working at the intersection of artificial intelligence and the physical sciences, with a particular focus on inverse problems, simulation-based inference, data-driven discovery, and foundational models for science. The 2026 edition will continue to highlight cutting-edge advances in theory, algorithms, high-performance computing, and applications across domains such as climate and geosciences, astrophysics, neuroscience, and engineering systems. The format emphasizes pedagogical and forward-looking invited talks that introduce fundamental concepts and survey current challenges and research frontiers. We expect around 200 participants this year. In addition to invited talks, the programme will feature a poster session to showcase ongoing research, encourage exchanges among participants, and stimulate new collaborations across disciplines.

The event will host an engaging poster session that all attendees are invited to join with their own poster. The goal is to make the poster session n key moment to share with other attendees your work related to GAP2026 topics and engage into vibrant discussions. Please submit a short abstract or the poster. The topic needs to be related to AISSAI/GAP2026, with a particular attention to works exploring the synergy between AI and High-Performance Computing (HPC) in the Exascale era. You can submit articles with work-in-progress, work already presented or published at a previous venue (for which you can reuse an already printed poster). A light selection will be done so to ensure that all posters are consistent with the topics of the workshop. Note, however, that there will be no proceedings.

What is the Deep Learning for Science Day (JDLS)?

The Deep Learning for Science Day (JDLS), organized by IDRIS and the FIDLE training program, is a national event dedicated to the use of deep learning and artificial intelligence in scientific research.
Open to all (researchers, engineers, PhD candidates, and postdoctoral fellows), JDLS features a series of high-level presentations. Around ten experts will present cutting-edge research in Deep Learning applied to a wide range of fields, including physics, astrophysics, biology, chemistry, law, and the humanities and social sciences.

Designed as a forum for interdisciplinary exchange and networking, JDLS aims to foster dialogue among scientific communities around concrete solutions to advance research through deep learning. A significant part of the program is also dedicated to PhD candidates, who will have the opportunity to present their work during dedicated flash talk and poster sessions.

Registration is not required if you plan to attend the event remotely.

Baptiste Prébot

Baptiste Prébot holds a PhD in Applied Cognitive Science and is an engineering graduate of the École Nationale Supérieure de Cognitique and the University of Bordeaux. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.

He currently works as a Human Factors and Human Sciences Expert at the Direction Générale de l’Armement (DGA). Alongside his professional activities, he continues research focused on two main areas: Human-Autonomy Teaming and Cognitive Defense and Security.

Fabrice Jaouen
is a General Officer (Second Section), a graduate of École Spéciale Militaire de Saint-Cyr, and certified by both the French and German War Colleges.

He lectures in business schools on information systems and corporate strategy. He is also coordinator of the Humanities, Society and Artificial Intelligence college within the Association Française pour l’Intelligence Artificielle. His research focuses on the Theory of Inventive Problem Solving (TRIZ) applied to influence and dominance strategies, particularly regarding the use of AI in this context.

Automated L2 Speaking Assessment (AL2SA) International Workshop 2026

Recent advances in artificial intelligence, particularly multimodal language models, are opening unprecedented opportunities for automated assessment of speaking skills in second language learning. Yet fundamental questions remain: What exactly should we assess in L2 oral production? How can technology best serve valid, reliable, and ethical assessment practices?

The AL2SA workshop (pron. /ˈæl.tsə/) brings together international experts to address these critical issues. Causalworlds 2026: The 3rd International Conference on Quantum, Classical, and Relativistic Causality

Understanding causality is foundational to science and has wide-ranging applications, yet there are several distinct notions of causation. Recently, there have been important developments on the role of causality in quantum physics, relativistic physics and their interplay. These have unearthed a plethora of deep and fascinating questions regarding the nature of causation in physical theories, emergence of space-time structure and how relativistic principles can shape the landscape of quantum information processing. At the same time, causal reasoning is central in classical statistics, and has become a crucial tool in machine learning, with applications ranging from big data to healthcare. The interface between classical and quantum causality has also been crucial for identifying when and how quantum theory can surpass classical models in information processing. Causalworlds aims to bring together researchers from different areas of physics, computer science, mathematics and philosophy working on such questions related to causality, both from fundamental and applied perspectives, to provide a venue for cross-pollination of ideas and techniques across these disciplines and consolidate efforts towards a more unified understanding of causation.

The scope of the conference includes (but is not limited to):

The role of causal structure in information processing
Indefinite causality and quantum reference frames
Cyclic causality and time symmetry
Causality in quantum field theory and quantum gravity
