AI for Data-Driven and Self-Configurable Supply Chains

DESCRIPTION

Today's markets are characterized by a wide variety of products and a high degree of product customization. Demand is volatile and uncertain. In addition, product life cycles are becoming shorter, and the production and delivery times that customers find acceptable are getting shorter and shorter. Therefore, today's businesses need to implement flexible production systems, robust supply chains, and agile planning processes. In this context, current analytical tools are beginning to reach their limits. Nevertheless, technologies are evolving and offer promising prospects. We are referring, in particular, to Industry 4.0 technologies and advances in artificial intelligence and data science.

Within the scope of this Chair, we are developing innovative decision-support tools for the planning and management of production systems and supply chains by combining optimization and simulation with artificial intelligence techniques. This approach should lead to greater efficiency and yield (self-)adaptive solutions, particularly in dynamic or uncertain environments and when problems are not well defined.
