On February 11, 2025Grenoble - Centre ville
On 11 February at 11am at the World Trade Center in Grenoble, the Interdisciplinary Institute for Artificial Intelligence (MIAI), supported by the Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA) and awarded the ‘IA Cluster’ label by the French government, was inaugurated along with all its partners.
The ambition of this new cluster is to create in Grenoble an international benchmark institute for embedded, interactive and generative AI, serving humans and the environment, with a focus on frugality, reliability and the desire to enlighten citizens and decision-makers about the challenges of artificial intelligence. It intends to build on the excellent results achieved by the MIAI Institute, created in 2019, in the fields of research, innovation and training, in particular by opening up its courses of study even more strongly to international markets.
MIAI Cluster objectives :
- Conduct cutting-edge research in artificial intelligence
- Offer attractive courses in AI for students at all levels and professionals,
- Support innovation in AI and develop AI in large companies, SMEs and start-ups,
- Inform and interact with citizens on all aspects of AI.
Our Institute is supported by a consortium of 12 partners
Winner of the ‘IA Cluster’ call for expressions of interest, along with eight other national projects, the MIAI Cluster is the only centre of excellence for research and training in artificial intelligence to be accredited in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. It is supported by an extended consortium that includes the UGA and its component institutions, Grenoble INP - UGA, Sciences Po Grenoble - UGA, ENSAG - UGA, the CEA, the CNRS, Inria, Inserm, the CHU Grenoble Alpes, GEM, the Université Savoie Mont Blanc and the Université Clermont Auvergne.Together, the partners represent a crucial mass drawn from more than 50 laboratories and totalling more than 500 technical and scientific staff in the core areas of AI and more than 180 in the main areas of application identified: environment and energy, health, Industry 4.0, AI and education.
To achieve its objectives in the fields of research, training and innovation, the MIAI Cluster has been awarded a €70m grant out of the €360m allocated over five years to the 9 national clusters of excellence in France 2030's IA Cluster programme.
