Since 2019, the MIAI label has been awarded to start-ups that develop AI technology or integrate artificial intelligence tools into their products or services.
What are the objectives of the label?
Contribute to improving innovation in AI and technology transfer
Encourage academic members to become entrepreneurs
Strengthen the exchange of best practices between start-ups within the community of labelled start-ups
What are the labelling criteria?
1.Support from an MIAI Cluster innovation partner:
The start-up must have been supported by an MIAI innovation partner (such as Linksium, INRIA, CEA, CNRS, Incubagem, Pepitozer) or originated from a laboratory affiliated with the MIAI Cluster sites (UGA, Clermont Auvergne, USMB).
2. Development of AI technology or use of AI in the product/service developed:
The start-up must develop a service or product that incorporates AI technology or develop an AI tool (core AI technology) in the areas targeted by the cluster: energy & environment, industry 4.0, health, education, cultural and creative industries, quantum, ethics, regulation.
1. Members of the MIAI Cluster Innovation Board identify candidate start-ups within the laboratories of the three sites (UGA, USMB, UCA) and start-up support structures.
2. The members of the Innovation Board meet to verify the admissibility of applications.
3. A notification is sent to the selected start-ups to offer them the certification process, specifying the advantages and commitments of the start-ups in return.
4. The start-ups are labelled during a MIAI Cluster event in June.
5. The start-ups are invited to events organised by the MIAI community and the MIAI Partners Club.
6. Within three months of being certified, they take part in the filming of a presentation video.
7. Each year, the start-ups must complete a reporting questionnaire to provide an update on their progress.
What are the advantages of the MIAI label for certified start-ups?
High-quality connections:
Access to scientific experts to overcome technological obstacles (at MIAI events) or receive scientific advice.
Invitation to trade shows in which MIAI participates to share the stand (Tech &fest, WAICF, others depending on team availability). Registration and travel expenses are the responsibility of the startup.
Membership in the MIAI Cluster Partners Club to receive invitations to events
Startup promotion:
Promotion on the MIAI website (on a page in the Innovation section) and on the LinkedIn page via a section dedicated to certified startups
Production of two promotional videos, one short (1 min) and one long (5 min), with English and French subtitles, subject to participation in the video shoot and the sharing of all information necessary for production.
Financial assistance:
Referral to the appropriate agencies, upon request.
Assistance with AI training to develop skills:
Promotion of job offers to the MIAI community through distribution on mailing lists dedicated to researchers and doctoral students, as well as on the MIAI website.
Provision of expertise:
Personalised meetings with members of the Innovation and Scientific offices upon request.
What are the requirements for start-ups?
Communicate about/mention the MIAI cluster in external communications.
Participate in the production of promotional videos.
Dedicate 1 hour/year to mentoring young people at the UGA Pépit'ozer incubator.
Share start-up issues with students as part of their studies (for a hackathon, for example)
Respond to the annual questionnaire on the startup's progress sent by the MIAI team (indicator of the startup's progress)
