First full public edition of the AI Trial, organized by FIDLE

Facing 15 charges, artificial intelligence was called to account for its actions before an impartial jury of 400 students gathered during Kaleidoscope Week at UGA. The initiative was a great success and will be repeated several times throughout 2025.

Inauguration of the MIAI Cluster

On 11 February at the World Trade Center in Grenoble, the Interdisciplinary Institute for Artificial Intelligence (MIAI), awarded the ‘IA Cluster’ label by the French government, was inaugurated along with all its partners. The MIAI is a project led by the Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA) and funded by the France 2030 programme.

A new milestone for the FIDLE YouTube channel

The FIDLE YouTube channel surpassed 21 500 subscribers.
FIDLE is a free, open-access online training programme delivered on YouTube by the CNRS, Université Grenoble Alpes, and the MIAI AI Cluster.

Selection of 29 new MIAI Cluster Chairs

As part of the 2024–2025 call for chairs, 29 new chairs were selected, followed by two additional chairs, bringing the total number to 31.
They join the two junior professorships and two industrial chairs awarded the MIAI Cluster label in early 2025, as well as the 11 chairs created in 2023.

Empowering the next generation of AI talent

With the aim of making AI education accessible to all, a total of 51 excellence study grants were awarded to L3, M1–M2 and first-year engineering students, including 11 EFELIA grants, 38 MIAI Cluster grants, and 2 IngéPlus grants, with individual grant amounts ranging from €3,000 to €8,000.

MIAI Days 2025

The 6th edition of this annual multi-thematic event highlighted key topics such as the AI Act, AI in education, biodiversity, health, innovation, and fundamental research, as well as the presentation of the 29 new Cluster chairs (selected through the 2024–2025 call).

AI Summer School with Grenoble INP and Ensimag

Grenoble INP – Ensimag, in partnership with the MIAI Cluster and EFELIA-MIAI, hosted an international Summer School on Artificial Intelligence from 23 June to 11 July 2025. The program welcomed students from around the world for an immersive experience combining lectures, hands-on sessions, and cultural activities in the heart of the French Alps.

A new chapter for MIAI Cluster

After seven years as Director of the MIAI Cluster, Professor Éric Gaussier is succeeded by Philippe Wieczorek, formerly Director of Innovation and an artificial intelligence expert at the Minalogic competitiveness cluster.

AI Week

From September 17 to 19, the Faculty of Law at Université Grenoble Alpes organized AI Week, a first-of-its-kind event dedicated to the challenges of artificial intelligence in the legal field, in close partnership with MIAI Cluster.The event brought together members of the French judiciary in Grenoble, fostering discussions on best practices in the use of AI and strengthening the Faculty of Law’s position at the national level on issues related to AI and law.

MIAI Cluster at the “Intelligences” Fête de la Science

The MIAI Cluster took part in the national Fête de la Science with a dedicated AI program. The event drew strong engagement, including around 100 high-school students for the “AI Trial” workshop on Thursday afternoon, 70 participants for the evening session, and over 1,700 visitors on Saturday at the Parvis des Sciences public day.
