DESCRIPTION

This project aims to advance imaging science by integrating AI with physics-based models to tackle challenges in imaging systems such as multi- and hyperspectral, thermal imaging, and tomography. These systems often suffer from a complex relationship between measurements and underlying physical variables and few reference data are available, making it difficult for traditional AI approaches to perform effectively. By leveraging AI’s data-driven capabilities, PHAIMS has the potential to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of imaging technologies, benefiting various application domains. At the same time, the development of physics-aware AI supports the creation of AI methods that are both interpretable and frugal. PHAIMS also aims to foster cross-disciplinary collaboration and innovation, addressing key challenges across various scientific fields such as remote sensing, biomedical imaging and material science.
